Don't Get Too Excited About That Rumored Thor: Ragnarok Cameo

Morning SpoilersIf there’s news about upcoming movies and television you’re not supposed to know, you’ll find it in here.

There’s even more footage from the CW’s big DC crossover. The director of DC’s animated Justice League Dark movie discusses making the movie R-rated. Plus, new images from Rogue One, a clip from The Walking Dead’s midseason finale, and a new trailer for the return of Humans. To me, my spoilers!

Thor: Ragnarok

A totally wild rumor is circulating that WWE star John Cena is appearing in the film... as himself. As Flickering Myth opines, Cena would make sense given the film’s at least partially set around an intergalactic gladiatorial arena and Cena isn’t exactly new to the world of acting—but this rumor originates from, of all places, the film’s IMDB page.

Not only is IMDB a highly suspect source, given the fact it can be publicly edited at any time, Cena has also since been removed from the cast list on the site. So no, you probably shouldn’t expect him to go toe-to-toe with Thor and friends in the movie.

Justice League Dark (Animated)

Director Jay Oliva tells Empire about the decision to make the animated film R-rated:

If I knew that I could get away with a rated R, I would have made it a hard R. When we make these films, our goal is always a PG-13, so there’s certain things that we know we can get away with and things that we can’t; we can’t do beheadings and we can’t do arterial blood spray or anything like that. I’m just trying to tell the best story that I can, and from there we edit some things out, or we try to hide things. Instead of showing a beheading, we’ll cut to the shadow on the wall as you see the beheading in the shadow, but you don’t actually see it. The Killing Joke was kind of a godsend in the sense of, because of its success and because Home Video took a chance of releasing it as an R, it paved the way for this to be an R.

The latest image from the film’s Instagram teases... well, a large supply of medicine. Maybe Logan’s, considering his healing factor is meant to be degrading in the film.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story

Empire has not one, but two new images from the film.

Meanwhile, the L.A. Times has a new poster for the El Capitan theater.

Assassin’s Creed

The Assassins—who “work in the dark to serve the light”—do an awful lot of running around and assassinating people in broad daylight in a new TV spot.

CW/DC Shows

Here’s yet another big trailer for this week’s crossover, featuring new footage.

Melissa Benoist talks about joining the crossover and Kara’s reaction to the other heroes in a new interview.

Speaking of Supergirl, the underground alien bar gets attacked by Cyborg Superman in a new clip from tonight’s episode.

The Walking Dead

Michonne hits the road (and some zombies) in a new clip from the midseason finale.

The Librarians

Baird is the focus of this synopsis of “And the Self-Fulfilling Prophecy.”

After seeing a vision of her own death at the hands of a supernatural assassin, Baird tries to cheat fate and stop the prophecy from coming true.
