Jerry Bruckheimer and Disney just paid a pretty penny for the new space race screenplay from Bruckheimer's usual writers. Which means we're due for a epic space film that may not be groundbreaking, but by god it will be entertaining.

Variety is reporting that past Bruckheimer scribes Terry Rossio and Bill Marsilii made off with a low-seven figures against $3.5 million deal with Disney and Bruckenheimer for their screenplay Lightspeed. Which is being described as:

Story centers on a young pilot who makes the Earth Interstellar Racing Team and must take his ship on a perilous journey across the galaxy on the brink of war.

Sounds like Armageddon, but instead of the best drillers, it's the best futuristic space racers. How much you wanna bet these guys hate rules, and rule-following in general?

And yes of course this film is going to be in 3D. Bring on the next big space franchise we say, the pirates are tired.
