The best thing about Disney’s Descendants franchise is the utterly hilarious names it gives its characters. They are beacons of non-originality. Up until now. Because we just found out the name of Yzma’s son. And it is really, really great.
The original live-action movie introduced us the Ben, the son of Belle and the Beast; Mal, the daughter of Maleficent; Evie, the daughter of the Evil Queen; Jay, the son of Jafar; and, my favorite, Carlos, the son of Cruella de Ville. The follow-up animated show, Wicked World, added Jordan the daughter of the Genie from Aladdin; Freddie the son of Mr. Facilier; Ruby, the daughter of Rapunzel; and my favorite of this batch, Ally, the daughter of Alice.
You may have caught a theme here: It’s alliteration. Every kid’s name sounds like the same as their famous parent. But, along with the news that the show was renewed for a second season, we also found out that Bradley Steven Perry (Lab Rats: Elite Force) will be voicing the son of Yzma from Emperor’s New Groove. And when he shows up next season, his name will be... “Zevon.”
Why? Is Yzma a big Warren Zevon fan? Why do this? This whole universe is ridiculous.
