Cult director Jess Franco, director of classic film Necronomicon, has just died.
I wonder if any definitive filmography will ever be attempted by someone. His films and whole career are kind interesting, but the unraveling of unbutchered cuts of all of his films...ugh. He was actually one of the few people that I've never met who I would have liked to chat with and ask him tons about his work process . I've always wondered about may of the directing choices he's made, especially with the actors. There are so many scenes I can think of that made me wonder if he just left the set and let the grip direct! Of course the other interesting thing about his films is that he seemed to have progressively lose his directing ability as he went on, which I thought was strange (the drugs taking their toll? lol) Anyway, RIP you old dirty coot.
