Could Daredevil or Jessica Jones Show Up In Avengers: Infinity War?

Life is good for Marvel fans these days. Just when you thought things couldn’t get better than the ever expanding Marvel Cinematic Universe, the Netflix shows are kicking ass, plus you have network shows too. It’s all been a great mix.

But...will that mix ever become one? That’s the big question. The movies have already had profound effects on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Agent Carter plus, on the horizon, the Avengers will be facing an Infinity War in 2018 and 2019. You have to think that’ll change not just the Earth, but the galaxy too.

Rumors had swirled that those two films, directed by the Russo Brothers, could be the place Iron Man, Captain America, Hulk and Spider-Man finally cross over with the Netflix characters like Jessica Jones, Daredevil and Luke Cage. So is that still happening? Maybe, say the directors, but it’s not a definite.

“When we start to serialize the telling of stories it’s difficult,” said the Russos in a new interview. “You have to have a lot of control and focus on the course of history. The films are controlled by a group led by Kevin Feige, so they function as a unit. Other products, even if they are from Marvel, are controlled by others.”

“Then there is the possibility of a crossover, but it’s more complicated. It is a smaller scale version of the problem that exists when remembering that Fox holds the rights to some of Marvel’s most popular characters, as does Sony and others. As storytellers, we only have control over what happens in Marvel movies, but everything is possible. Spider-Man became possible!”

So basically it sounds like a crossover between the Avengers and Jessica Jones isn’t a probability, but at least there is a small possibility. And that’s because those shows operate outside the umbrella of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The stories weaving isn’t something that’s regularly considered.

But, since Spider-Man is coming to the MCU, and he’s a New York City-based hero, it would be pretty odd if he wasn’t mentioned in the Netflix shows, or vice versa in his 2017 solo movie.

It’s also important to remember that while Jessica, Daredevil and Luke may not get to meet The Avengers anytime soon, they will be teaming up themselves. The aim from the get go of the Netflix shows was for them all to culminate in a crossover show called The Defenders.

It almost feels like Infinity Wars Part II should have everyone involved, even if it’s just a quick two minute montage of people helping in the background.

It makes sense that the Avengers and Guardians of the Galaxy would be the main focus of the movie, but there is incredible potential to have a quick scene of the Agents of SHIELD team, the Defenders, and anyone else from the TV side helping by saving people in the background. Maybe May / Coulson / Skye providing air support with Zephyr one, Jessica, Luke, and Daredevil leading people away from crumbling buildings, Punisher just unleashing hell from some rooftop as Thanos’ minions flying by, etc.

Enough lip service to acknowledge that this is more than an Avengers fight between five square blocks, without devoting too much time to the fringes.

Plus, it’d be in line with the MCU theme of taking time to save innocents in the midst of battle.
