Confirmed: David Tennant and Billie Piper will return for Doctor Who's 50th anniversary special!

It's official! The BBC has confirmed that both David Tennant and Billie Piper will appear in the 50th anniversary special of Doctor Who!

The pair will reprise their roles as the Tenth Doctor and Rose Tyler, and will appear alongside current stars Matt Smith and Jenna-Louise Coleman. They will be joined by acting legend John Hurt, whose guest appearance has also been confirmed.

The official Doctor Who Twitter account posted an image of Tennant early this morning. It was immediately followed by an image of Piper, and a third photo of Hurt. Finally, there was this:

An official announcement is also slated to appear in this week's Doctor Who Magazine. Featured here, a magazine clipping from this week's issue:

Filming of the special is set to kick off this week. Reports on the special's length currently vary between 60 and 90 minutes, though it was previously confirmed that it will be shot in 3D, and receive a limited worldwide 3D cinema release.

...could have done without Rose if I'm honest. Anyway, hopefully Tennant is playing 10 and not that alt-universe clone 10, so we'll actually be getting a multiple Doctor story and not a Doctor and a half story.
