While it's certainly considered science fiction, I doubt very many people would posit the British comedy Red Dwarf as the most thoroughly researched look at the future of spaceships and interstellar travel. In fact, I was pretty sure creators Rob Grant and Doug Naylor just made shit up as they went along. But in this new interview by Robert "Kryten" Llewelyn, Naylor reveals he put some actual thought into designing the Dwarf, how the crew survived in space, how Rimmer's hard-light hologram could travel around so much, and even why a single hairdryer might cause a spaceship to shut down. You science-lovers probably won't have your worlds rocked, but I'm shocked any research was done for such a silly show. Now, if only he'd put that much thought in Back to Earth
