The Amazing Spider-Man 2

Here's the latest from the Daily Bugle tumblr, titled "Only Time for Super Crime":

By Frederick Foswell

Despite corroborated reports that a central figure has risen to claim greater control over the Russian organized crime families, the NYPD continues to deny the existence of the lazily nicknamed "Big Man." (Was "Scary Crime Boss" already taken?) Can't we come up with a more pointedly clever nickname for this hard-nosed criminal?

In the four months since the terrorist attack on OsCorp Tower, violent crime is way up. Everyone's afraid of everyone. The nuns are wearing bulletproof habits. Cabbies are afraid to HONK. Hot dog vendors are staying INSIDE their carts. I even overheard someone use the word SORRY.

Is this climate of fear a result of the NYPD shifting its focus towards the potential threat of super-human activity?

I don't know about you, but Spider-Man doesn't scare me. Nothing in red spandex scares me. It's time for the mayor's office to address the real question at hand: Which is a bigger police priority — organized crime or super-humans?

A source who requested anonymity said, "They just want to do real police work, not chase after unicorns, wall-crawlers and giant mutated reptile-men."

As usual for the viral site, the "article" drops hints from comic book anon and, particularly, villains. This article is "by" Frederick Foswell, the man behind the crime boss "Big Man" referenced in the article. [Coming Soon]

Divergent's not even out yet, but we already know that the sequel (if any) will have a different director. Neil Burger will not be directing the sequel, with Summit Entertainment giving this statement:

Neil Burger is a rock star and he is doing a fantastic job on Divergent. We can't wait for you to see the film. But as amazing as Neil is he still cannot be in two places at once and thus needs to finish post production on Divergent while we gear up to start production on Insurgent. So, although Neil will continue on as part of our Divergent family as an executive producer, we sadly have to find another director for the next chapter in Veronica Roth's fantastic series.

I, Frankenstein

Director Stuart Beattie's been busy tweeting out photos and concept art. First is Denis Akdeniz as gargoyle warrior Barachel. Second is a photo of stars Aaron Eckhart and Yvonne Strahovski on set. Third is the double-bladed ax belonging to Gideon, apparently the "mightiest warrior of the Gargoyle Order." Fourth is concept art for the Demon Lord, Zuriel. And last is concept art of the creature carrying the body of his "father." [Dread Central]

The Walking Dead

The show's gearing up for season five, already casting for new regulars, recurring roles and guest stars. Of course, there aren't any more details on what they're looking for or what parts they're casting. [International Business Times]

Doctor Who

According to a tweet from the official account, Peter Capaldi's getting close to his first adventure as the Doctor:

Peter Capaldi has just completed his first read through as the Doctor! A new era of #DoctorWho is coming, but first

The Disney Channel's new show about the children of Disney's most famous villains has cast Dove Cameron as Maleficent's daughter "Mal." (Sidenote: Really? Mal?) Disney Channel Worldwide Senior VP Judy Taylor said:

Dove is a multi-dimensional actress whose undeniable charisma allows her to conjure the many facects of Mal, the sharp-edged yet vulnerable daughter of one of Disney's most wicked villains.

Tomorrow People

The show's taking a break, but star David Giuntoli spoke a bit about what we can expect when the show returns. First, he said that there'd be more after-effects revealed from Nick's recovery from being a zombie:

Oh, yes. Yes. We're going to be playing on this one for a little while. It's funny, every time Nick gets harmed, he's left with this kind of useful side-effect and we're going to definitely be seeing more of that after the break.

He's also not holding out hope for Nick and Juliette:

Oh, there's no way [Nick and Juliette are] going to live happily ever after. I mean, I don't know what's going to happen, but if there is a relationship - it is the job of the writers of America to tear it apart, at least temporarily you know. So I don't know what's going to happen, but I can guarantee you there's going to be something thrown into the works here.

And he's similarly a little bit cautious about Nick and Monroe's friendship:

You'll see some wavering [of loyalty], I'll say that. But things are starting to get questioned, you know. Is Nick using Monroe? I just shot an episode where that's like the central theme, and there's a big falling-out between Monroe and I. And it's great because in the episode that's what I ask. I'm sitting with Juliet. I'm like, "I don't know. He's right. I think he's right." You know, so I think it's kind of cool that this stuff's coming to the surface in Season 3.
