Bioluminescent whales soar in the first beautiful trailer for Ang Lee's Life of Pi

Trailer FrenzyA special place to find the newest trailers for movies and TV shows you're craving.

Not one single word is spoken in the first ever trailer for Ang Lee's Life of Pi, which is perfect. Words could only have distracted from the insane beauty of this wildly theatrical magical realist movie. Fingers crossed, the boy and his tiger friend eventually come upon the carnivorous plants on the mystical floating islands from the original Yann Martel novel. This is what 3D was made for.

Here's the official synopsis:

Director Ang Lee (Brokeback Mountain, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon) creates a groundbreaking movie event about a young man who survives a tragic disaster at sea and is hurtled into an epic journey of adventure and discovery. While marooned on a lifeboat, he forms an amazing and unexpected connection with the ship's only other survivor — a fearsome Bengal tiger.

The Father of Modern Laziness

**SPOILERS IF HAVE NOT READ THE BOOK!!!!!!!*********

A Warning to all who love this book, as I do. There is no way the ending will be handled the same way the book did. It will only take one test audience feeling utterly betrayed by the protagonist/narrator to force them to change the ending. I didn't cry during the last 20 or so pages of this book, I sat in silence, I sat in silence after I finished, I sat for over an hour, trying to convince myself that Richard Parker was happily eating Meerkats on the floating island, but I knew he, like everyone else was a lie. A book can get away with this, some movies can as well, But there will never be a hint of what is to come in the trailers, to crush the hearts of every person in the theatre would be disastrous. I could be wrong, and I hope I am, but I doubt it.
