Director-siblings Andy and Lana Wachowski say that their next science fiction film is a major production, with Andy saying the special effects are way more complicated than Cloud Atlas. Lana described it in more depth, saying:
It's a science fiction space opera. It has a lot of things from a lot of genres that we love. It's got a lot of original action, it's got a lot of romance.
We seem not to be very good at making small things. We keep saying 'Let's go make a small movie.' But then they always end up being enormously complex. We want to somehow always find something that is different or that no one has tried.
Let's just all agree that the people behind the next Star Trek movie haven't started doing anything and don't know anything yet. At an Ender's Game interview, Bob Orci responded to questions about the next Star Trek movie by saying: "[I] just started thinking about it and was trying to steal as many good ideas from everyone I talked to, including this man."
"This man" was Harrison Ford, who was asked if he'd be in the next Trek movie, and jokingly responded, "Sure." [Trek Web]
The Wrap has an early review of this movie up, and while the plot details (child prodigy at a military academy in a future where Earth fears an alien enemy) aren't new if you've read the book, the review says that Asa Butterfield's does a good job as Ender, hitting the "right notes of naiveté when necessary without undermining his believability as the most formidable military mind in the seventh grade." If this review is anything to go by, though, the stand-out performance is going to be Harrison Ford as Graff. [The Wrap]
Man of Steel 2: Batman vs. Superman
Speaking with Al Norton and 411mania.com, Ban Affleck discussed what made him take the role of Batman, and how he's thinking of the character:
Initially I was reluctant as I felt I didn't fit the traditional mold but once Zack showed me the concept, and that it would be both different from the great movies that Chris [Nolan] and Christian [Bale] made but still in keeping with tradition I was excited. Doing something different and new is always tricky and part of the thrill and the risk is that initially it confounds expectations. The truth is, it's the movie and the execution of it is what all the actors depend on and I believe in Zack's vision.
Al Norton: Warner Brothers CEO Kevin Tsujihara recently said that this version of Batman would be "tired and weary and seasoned and been doing it for awhile"...Is that how you envisioned him as well and what would you add to the description on the Bruce Wayne side of things?
Ben Affleck: Yes, Kevin described it aptly. I don't want to go further because I want to be able to capitalize on what is new about this iteration by having it be a surprise to the audience.
Rachel McAdams is reportedly in talks to star with Keanu Reeves in this film, written by Prometheus writer Jon Spaihts. The film originally had Reese Witherspoon attached, but scheduling required her to drop out. The film follows a spacecraft transporting thousands of people in stasis, when a malfunction wakes a single passenger ninety years too early. Unwilling to grow old and die alone, he decides to wake another passenger, beginning a troubled love story. [Deadline]
Ryan Renolds still really wants to make the Deadpool movie happen. He recently said it's still inching forward, but there's no official green light from Fox yet:
It’s actually, within the last couple of weeks, taken a few very, very small tiptoes forward. I think if I were a betting man, it’ll get made, eventually. I mean it’s just been developed to high heaven. It has great people around it, so we’ll see.
There’s minimal impact to the studio, which is the way we’re kind of presenting it to them. We’re saying, ‘Look, the budget is minimal. Therefore, can we do this the way it should be done?’ Which unfortunately needs a Rated R, or it needs those elements. The script is probably available online, it leaked. But it’s very meta, I mean, the character knows he’s in a movie, he knows he’s in a comic book. He names studio executives in the script. So, it’s kind of a risky property.
Kevin Tancharoen, the man behind the Mortal Kombat Reboot series on Youtube, announced that he's leaving the Mortal Kombat feature film project. No one else is attached to the project, and Tancharoen made his announcement via Twitter:
After 3 years of Kombat, I've decided to move on to other creative opportunities. I wish everyone involved in the movie big success. Thanks!

Speaking with TV Line, Bitsie Tulloch explained what Juliette's position in the team will look like this season, and whether Julliette and Rosalie will have a developing friendship:
TVLINE | As the season moves forward, does Juliette have a certain role on the team?
Juliette is the scientist and the doctor. She’s the one who has an actual true medical background, so that’s what she’s bringing to the table, as well as just the fact that she’s known him longer… There’s also something to be said for that fact that Juliette’s the only character that’s not a cop or a detective and not a Wesen. She’s just a real human, so that’s bringing something to the table, too.
TVLINE| I’ve always wanted a Juliette-and-Rosalie bonding scene, and I felt like maybe they weren’t as close because Rosalie was part of this world that Juliette wasn’t part of. Will there be girl time time in the coming episodes?
There’s girl time, they’re friends. Any of the distance up to this point, as you said, has just been because Rosalie didn’t feel like she could be herself around Juliette.
In the same interview, Claire Coffee explained how Adalind is feeling about trading her baby for her powers:
TVLINE | Adalind seems very happy with the deal she’s made to trade her baby for her powers. Do you think there’s any chance that her feelings for the child could change between now and when the actual exchange has to happen?
Yeah, it’s possible now. It wouldn’t have been, had she still had her Hexenbiest powers, because they really shielded her from any sort of normal human emotion or response. But now that she is a human being, just like anybody else, I would think it seems like the mothering instinct is the most formidable of all. I would think that that would certainly affect her in some way.

Witches of East End
Rachel Boston, who plays the eldest daughter Ingrid, said we'll be learning about all the girls' pasts and talked about Ingrid's love interest:
TVLINE | Most of these women have skeletons in their closets from lives past. Can the same be assumed for Ingrid?
She definitely does! That’s one of my favorite lines of the show, when the whole family sitting around the table in the first episode after the pilot. I say to Joanna, “You don’t even kill spiders! Why does someone want to hurt you?” And [Wendy's] like, “Your mother’s a badass.” [Laughs] We don’t know how we have been living the life that our mother set up for us, so we aren’t aware of the huge journeys that we’ve been on together, through different time periods, where we were very powerful witches. It’s inherently inside of us — the intuition’s still there and all of those memories exist inside our hearts and souls — but now we have to put it into action.
TVLINE | And obviously we have to talk about Ingrid finally making a move on Jason George’s has-to-be-too-good-to-be-true Adam…
I love Jason so much! He is such an amazing person and actor… This is a man who comes into Ingrid’s life, who she’s known since she was a little girl, right when she’s discovering these powers. She obviously can’t tell him about that, but it’s a beautiful comfort that he’s come back into her life right then and they’re able to support each other through it. It’s a really, really special love, and I’m very excited for the journey ahead for them.
