Behold a Batman helmet right out of the 1920s

Illustration for article titled Behold a Batman helmet right out of the 1920s

If Batman hung out in the Jazz Age, his headgear might look like this helmet built by the Ukrainian costume crafters at Bob Basset. This Dark Knight reminds me of Paul Pope's "Batman of Berlin." I imagine this Batman spends his time punching out bootleggers moving barrels of rectitude-poisoning Jokerbräu to Gotham's Tin Pan Alley, resisting the wiles of the Lindy-Hopping Tabby, and thwarting Mr Freeze's plan to weaponize the eyes of Doctor T. J. Eckleburg. (He'd rename them "the eyes of Doctor T. J. Iceburg," by applesauce.)

Surely there are two helmets pictured there? I can't see how the faceplate from the third attaches to the cowl. There are no seams visible in the first two pictures.
