At The End Asks: Would You Become A Slave To Escape A Doomed Earth?

In this short film, a nearby supernova spells certain doom for Earth, and an alien fleet offers a choice: humans can escape, but only if they agree to become enslaved in space. The film follows one couple who have to come to grips with what it will cost to survive.

Jason Whitmore’s film splits its time between a present timeline and flashbacks as a pair of doctors, Madeline and Garrison, flee towards the last remaining ships that are evacuating humanity from Earth.

There’s a lot of gorgeous imagery here. The story covers ground that’s been well travelled, but it’s a well-executed story.

I was expecting some sort of gotcha at the end. We never did find out the fate of those who boarded ship. “Slave” could mean anything down to being brains in jars.
