Illustration for article titled Ask Acclaimed Writer Margaret Atwood About Her New Superhero Comic, em/emHer Novels, and More

Although she often notes her work isn’t science fiction, we love the worlds that Margaret Atwood creates in her novels—and now she’s created a whole new superheroic one that’s a total delight in her very first comic book, Angel Catbird. Want to know more? Margaret Atwood will answer your questions right here!

Marking Atwood’s graphic novel debut, Dark Horse’s Angel Catbird’s first volume—featuring art from Johnnie Christmas and Tamra Bonvillain—was released earlier this month. Inspired by Atwood’s work with the conservation charity Nature Canada (who co-published the book)’s Keep Cats Safe and Save Bird Lives initiative, Angel Catbird follows the fanciful adventures of a young genetic engineer named Strig Feleedus who finds himself mutated into the titular hero after an accident mixes his DNA with that of a cat and an owl. Given strange new powers, Feleedus takes flight as Angel Catbird, fighting crime with liberal amounts of punching and cat-puns.

It really is as weird and wonderful as it sounds—and if you’ve got any questions for Atwood about the hero, her first experience writing comics, her work with Nature Canada, or even maybe her many seminal novels, she’ll be answering your questions live, from 2:00pm ET to 3:00pm ET. Start brainstorming questions in the comments below right meow!

UPDATE 3.05pm: The Q&A is now over—but you can read all of Margaret’s answers below. Angel Catbird volume one is in stores now.
