Another American Godzilla Movie Set To Attack

The most enduring creature from Japan is set to invade American multiplexes once more. Will it be better than the 1998 Roland Emmerich version? Well, there's no where to go but up.

According to Variety, Legendary Pictures has secured the rights to the classic Toho monster and is planning to release their new take in 2012 through Warner Bros.. There are still a lot of question marks surrounding this: who'll write and direct; is Godzilla still gonna be that weird quasi-tyrannosaur; will Godzooky show up?

My real question is: What took so long? In a 1999 interview, Amy Pascal — head of Sony Pictures, which produced the Emmerich 'Zilla — said "if a movie makes $400 million, you make a sequel. It's that simple." Not so simple for Sony; let's see if Legendary can make a go of it. And leave Matthew Broderick at home this time.

I think that might be Space Godzilla in that picture, which makes me very happy. Not happy about the new American movie, mind you - just happy in general.
