Channel Chriswell has put together some interesting video essays recently, and for his latest, he takes a look at the films of Andrei Tarkovsky, who focused on what the characters were feeling, rather than what was happening.

This is a really interesting essay, for anyone who’s interested in how films come together. Here, we take a look at how Tarkovsky uses cinema to convey the underlying emotion that his characters feel, using techniques that could only be used in cinema.
