This spring, Capcom's Blue Bomber will receive his own ongoing comic book series. Here's an exclusive sneak peek at the second issue's cover by Sonic The Hedgehog and Avatar: The Last Airbender comic artist Patrick "Spaz" Spaziante.

Mega Man is penned by Sonic writer Ian Flynn, and the inaugural issue hits stores May 4, 2011. Here's the first issue's synopsis, courtesy of Archie Comics:

"Let the Games Begin!" Part One: The future looks bright when brilliant and benevolent Dr. Light unveils his latest creations: the Robot Masters! But when the nefarious Dr. Wily steals them for his own sinister purposes, there is no one left to stop him. No one – except Mega Man! Don't miss the first issue of this brand new ongoing series!

Fingers crossed for cameos from some more obscure robot masters — we mean you, Centaur Man. The second issue drops in June.

I wasn't expecting an origin story out of this series.

This is firmly in "wait and see". An origin story gives a blank slate on characterization, and I can only hope the author takes advantage of it. What's the tone supposed to be?
