Plastic has become a ubiquitous part of life, though we rarely think about its impact on the environment and our health. This beautifully crafted four-minute film shows the various problems associated with plastic, along with possible solutions.
The film, titled "It's a Plastic World", was directed and produced by Andreas Tanner. At his project website he writes:
In my holidays I saw a secluded beach that was littered with plastic waste. I asked myself how this could be possible. Back home, I began to fathom the causes of this. The problem is that the ocean is completely polluted with plastic. A lot of plastic is washed up on beaches worldwide. This and many other bad facts led me to make my degree movie about the material plastic and its follow far-reaching.
The film, which has since won a Vimeo Staff Pick award, has been endorsed by many NGOs, including Greenpeace, WWF, and PlasticOceans.
