For his upcoming Superman reboot, Zack Snyder's rounded out the Kent clan with Academy Award winner Kevin Costner and nominee Diane Lane.

Now The L.A. Times reports that the role of Lois Lane will go to acclaimed actress Amy Adams, who's best known for her roles in Enchanted and The Fighter. Said Snyder of Lois' role in the film:

It goes back to what I've said about Superman and making him really understandable for today. What's important to us is making him relevant and real and making him empathetic to today's audience so that we understand the decisions he makes. That applies to Lois as well. She has to be in the same universe as him [in tone and substance].

Lex Luthor II

Anyone originally remember her as the fat girl from Smallville that tried to eat Pete? I'll always remember her first from that. I knew she'd be big from that episode, she was too cute not to be. Just like that shape shifting girl who's now in mooovies.

I still think the Lois Lane from Smallville would make a better Lois Lane.
