The settings and characters in Frank Herbert's Dune are so vivid, it's hard to do justice to them on the screen. But looking at these amazing "speed-paintings" by concept artist Mark Molnar is enough to make you wish they'd try again.

I want HBO to take a crack at Dune. Scifi channel was going in the right direction by making it a miniseries to cover all the material. But Scifi channel still blew it. HBO needs to do this.

I know this artwork re-imagines things (like the Sardaukar, or the Harkonnen Battle Droid... lolwut?) but they were brilliantly done.
