Thanks to the eruption of Mount Etna, it's been raining rocks in Sicily

Fortunately, the recent eruption of Mount Etna didn't force anyone to evacuate their homes, but in this video, you can watch the volcanic ash and rocks raining down on Sicily.

How can air craft (jet engines) fly through such? Frozen chickens are one thing, but vesicular basalts or scoria is another...
Or do they close all traffic during such things.
