Roland Emmerich talks about the Stargate reboot. Winona Ryder offers glum prospects for Beetlejuice 2. Plus, teases for Blindspot’s return, more Suicide Squad footage, and more stills from the return of Zoo. To me, my Spoilers!
A new batch of TV spots for the film have been released, three of which you can find below:
The fourth, however, has been pulled from the web by Sony Pictures—perhaps because it “accidentally” revealed that the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man is indeed in the film. The shot, which had previously been shown in trailers with Stay Puft absent, is still available to view online however, even as Sony Pictures moves to shut down re-uploads of the TV spot.
Roland Emmerich talks about the movie reboot:
Elements of [Stargate SG-1] will flow into the reboot, definitely. The amount of characters, for instance. It’s not a two-hander like the first one with James Spader and Kurt Russell, this time it’s a bigger group. Yes, there’s still the James Spader character and the Kurt Russell character, but other people are equally important.
Winona Ryder offers a not-particularly-optimistic update on the potential for a sequel:
I don’t really know what’s going on with that. Obviously, it was an iconic film. The only way it could really ever be done is with Tim [Burton] and Michael [Keaton]. I don’t know. There’s something that really resonates with all ages, with that film. It’s interesting. I think it would be great if it happened, if it was the right circumstances. Gosh, you know you’re getting older when they’re making TV shows, sequels or plays for things that you did. It’s very flattering and very humbling, indeed. I heard they were making another ‘Little Women.’ Mine was the fifth one, so that’s kudos to Louisa May Alcott. It’s just very flattering.
Here’s two more TV spots.
Omid Abtahi has joined the cast as Salim, described as a “sweet, sad” foreigner in a “star-crossed” relationship. [Deadline]
Following its delay in the wake of the Orlando Pulse shooting, the season premiere—which features scenes of a gunman opening fire in a packed nightclub in Vietnam and taking hostages—will now air this Sunday, June 19th. [Deadline]
Spoiler TV has some hints for where the second season picks up, describing Jane as being “on the hunt” for Shepard, and that the show is going to delve more into her training when it returns. More at the link.
A brief synopsis for “Dawn of the Dead” has been released:

Finally, the first episode of the two-hour season premiere is has been titled “Day of the Beast,” while the second is called “Caraquet.” Plus, a few more stills have been released from the premiere—more at the link. [KSiteTV]
