Few movies bring me as much pleasure as Starship Troopers. The satire, the seemingly intentionally bad performances, the insane action and never-ending quotable dialogue... it all gels together perfectly. And that makes a video like this one so much better.

What you have above is the latest video in Machinima’s Real Fake History series. The series takes a big event from a famous pop culture text and gives it the TV news/documentary treatment. They’ve done, or will do, the Battle of Endor from Return of the Jedi, the Battle of New York in The Avengers, the Battle of Hong Kong in Pacific Rim and Little Mac’s rise in Mike Tyson’s Punch-Out, among others.

Now, they tackle Starship Troopers’ Disaster on Klendathu, the sequence from the start of the film, where the Troopers grossly underestimate the Arachnid forces and get decimated. Like most everything in the film itself, this is dealt with incredibly tongue-in-cheek. Some of the jokes don’t land, but most do and honestly—the more Starship Troopers videos we get, the better.
