Pacific Rim 2 is still a long way off, but if you're hankering for some more hot Jaeger/Kaiju battles, you won't have to wait much longer: a new comic miniseries from Legendary will fill in the gap between the first movie and the previous graphic novel prequel. Update: Now with glorious High-Res art!
The new four-part miniseries, Pacific Rim: Tales from the Drift, will be "presented" by Guillermo del Toro (I'm not entirely sure what that means, unless del Toro will drive to my house with a copy of the comic every month to personally hand it over) and is based on a story by Pacific Rim scribe Travis Beacham, but written by Joshua Fialkov. Marcos Marz will supply the art for all four issues.
Set in between Tales from Year Zero and the movie, Tales from the Drift will cover the full brunt of humanity's war against the Kaiju threat, after their excellent plan to build giant robots to punch the Kaiju to death is put into motion. Judging by the promo art released, it looks like the series will spend some more time with Japanese Jaeger Tacit Ronin, who made a brief appearance during the film's opening montage sequence.
Also a good time to remind ourselves that Tacit Ronin is an incredible giant robot name.
Pacific Rim: Tales from the Drift will begin in November.
