The empowerment behind all of our favorite superhero stories is what makes the genre such a timeless one, filled with stories that can reach people across all age barriers. Sidekick, featuring some familiar faces from Arrow, Flash, and more, uses that empowerment to deliver a heartwarmingly sweet tale.

Featuring a star-studded cast—Once Upon a Time’s Josh Dallas, Arrow’s Emily Bett Rickards in dual roles, and The Flash’s Tom Cavanagh—Sidekick, directed by Jeff Cassidy (himself part of the camera crew on The Flash), tells the story of a father telling a story of heroes, princesses, and villains as a way to break some tragic news to his young son.

The flicking between fantasy and reality as the tale progresses is well done—and you can definitely feel some of the Flash vibes in the superheroic action sequences, even if they don’t feature the fastest man alive. It’s a wonderful story about the power of heroes and storytelling, and well worth 15 minutes of your time to watch.

Yes, very nice. I felt feelings.

One Note: Mom is a quivering pile of mush that has no strength of her own and now a 7 year old feels responsible for protecting her.

Is that really.... great?
