Lose yourself in the story of Robbie the robot, a sentient automaton astronaut that finds itself stranded alone in Earth's orbit for thousands of years after losing contact with Earth in 2045. His battery is dwindling. This is his last message to whoever will listen.
The eight-minute film, called Robbie, is the handiwork of Australian filmmaker Neil Harvey. It was created entirely from archival NASA footage (some of it dating back as far as the Apollo program), which, when combined with Robbie's strangely emotive voice and an unnerving ambient soundtrack, makes for a remarkably compelling narrative. Give it a go — you'll be surprised by its poignance. [Neil Harvey via It's Okay to be Smart]
