The alpha and the omega of Marvel movie rumors all boils down to which character one actress wants (or doesn't want) to play. Five actresses are vying to play Spider-Man's girlfriend. Plus Cowboys & Aliens, Skyline, and much, much more!
X-Men - First Class:
This story is pretty much the nexus point of all Marvel movie rumors (assuming any of it's true, which is even less of a given than usual), so let's unpack this slowly. An inside source at Marvel is claiming that Alice Eve actually had been cast as Emma Frost, but asked out of the film when she didn't like the latest set of script changes, which opened the door for January Jones. If it's true, that means one of two things - Eve wasn't happy with the quality of the script in general, or she wasn't happy with how Emma Frost was being handled in particular. (It might have to do with the fact that the absurdly huge cast likely won't give anyone a lot of screen time.) Of course, it may just be that she wanted out of this because she was up for a part in an even bigger Marvel movie, namely... [ComicBookMovie]
...in which Alice Eve is reportedly being considered for a minor villain role. The inside source suggests the character they want her for is a part of the Thor comics, which one site has suggested means The Enchantress. Even if it isn't that specific villain, the presence of a minor Thor villain makes the appearance of a major Thor villain seem way more likely. That suggests Loki will indeed be the villain of the movie, something that's been rumored but not confirmed. And, of course, this also raises the possibility that Eve would then get a larger role in... [ComicBookMovie]
This part is more speculative, but other sites have pointed out that this would certainly open up the possibility that The Enchantress (or whatever other Thor villain she's playing) would be the villain (or, knowing superhero sequel conventions, one of the villains) in an eventual sequel. Of course, we're moving sort of fast here, but Eve is also reportedly up for the lead in yet another Marvel movie... [Cinematical]
Fantastic Four Reborn:
...in which she'd voice the all-CGI Thing. No, sorry, read that wrong. She'd play Sue Storm, supposedly. That's what the same inside source at Marvel says, anyway. Between these latest rumors and the earlier reports she was going to play Peggy Carter in Captain America (that role went to Hayley Atwell), Alice Eve has pretty much been rumored for every female role in the Marvel universe, but absolutely nothing is official just yet. Now hold on a second, I need to catch my breath. [ComicBookMovie]
A list of five actresses has surfaced as possible candidates to play Peter Parker's love interest in Marc Webb's reboot. The character will reportedly not be Mary-Jane, and it's still unclear whether it will be Gwen Stacy, someone else from the comics, or a new character entirely. The five are reportedly Imogen Poots, Ophelia Lovibond, Lily Collins, Teresa Palmer, and Emma Roberts. (I'm sure this will shock you, but some of those names are English. I'll let you guess which ones.) Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Scott Pilgrim's Ramona Flowers, was also reportedly up for the role but has dropped out of the running. Of course, my money's on Alice Eve until I'm told otherwise. [The Hollywood Reporter]
I know we already talked about Alice Eve and this film's hypothetical sequel, but this is actual info from an actress who's actually in the actual film. (It's crazy, I know.) Jaime Alexander, who plays Lady Sif, had this to say about her Asgardian warrior:
She most definitely is "one of the guys".. She's a very talented, skilled warrior and can stand on her own against any villain in the film. She is very loyal to Thor and cares a lot about protecting him and protecting Asgard... As for a possible love relationship you'll just have to wait and see the movie. My lips are sealed!
Cowboys & Aliens:
Here's the first poster. Say what you will about those aliens, their human suction capabilities are second to none: [ShockTillYouDrop]
I Am Number Four:
Here's a set video for the upcoming teen science fiction film:
Dracula - Year Zero:
Sam Worthington has reportedly been confirmed for the role of Vlad the Impaler, the historical basis for the Dracula legend and the subject of Alex Proyas's latest film. The movie will reportedly start shooting early in 2011 in Australia. [Collider; original article at Encore removed for legal reasons]
Here's an interview with Lance Reddick and Jasika Nicole. It doesn't contain any major new info, but it might have a spoilery nugget here and there: [Fringe Television]
Executive producer Sera Gamble said that Lucifer and Michael will remain trapped fighting forever, and she has no interest in bringing them back. Anyway, she says, there's so much animosity now that demons don't even need Lucifer to keep springing into being. Crowley still has his powers because he "gets them from all of the damned souls who've made crossroad deals." [ontd_spnparty's Livejournal]
The show has landed maybe it's biggest guest star yet - comics legend Stan Lee will reportedly make at least a cameo on the show. It's not clear who he will play, although a more benevolent version of The Authority's Jacob Krigstein seems about right. Also, there's news on who Stargate Universe's Ming Na will play in her guest spot. She will reportedly play Senator Alice Wen, who has come to deal with a sensitive issue at Global Dynamics. She also might make multiple appearances. [TV Guide]
Brainiac isn't the only returning villain for the 200th episode, entitled "Homecoming" - it also reportedly features the return of Greg Arkin, alias Bugboy, who was the villain of the show's second episode ever. No word on whether original actor Chad Donella is reprising the role or whether it's been recast.. [SpoilerTV]
No Ordinary Family:
Guillermo Diaz, best known for his work as the Mexican drug kingpin Guillermo on Weeds, will reportedly appear in episode 4 as Detective Coredro, a brash, tough-talking cop who doubts the abilities of the apparently meek (but really superpowered) police sketch artist Jim, played by Michael Chiklis.
