The Los Angeles Times Festival of Books has added a graphic novel category to their annual list of book prizes. Who are the finalists for the first major American book award to honor the comic medium?

That's one rock-solid shortlist - it's nice to see some stalwart graphic novelists getting accolades from the print community as a whole. The 2009 Los Angeles Times Book Prizes will be awarded April 23 in Los Angeles.
