The newest Star Trek movie is already in theaters in LA and New York - well, kind of. And like Star Trek IV, this movie also has a serious message to impart through uncomfortable comedy.
The animated short, Don't Deport Me, Scotty, isn't an official Trek movie but a promo for the human rights organization Breakthrough, and their campaign to restore due process for US immigrants. Yes, its humor is somewhat heavy-handed in an attempt to get over its point, but let's face it; it's still better than Star Trek V.
The movie is currently showing before every screening at the Angelika theatre in NYC and the Laemmle theatres in California for the rest of December.
