Click to viewLook at this set photo from Terminator: Salvation. Is this John Connor's new BatPod? Or something more sinister? This is just one of the behind-the-scenes pics io9 just obtained. Click through for more pics, plus speculation about the nature of this wheeled beast. Spoilers ahead.

Call me optimistic but I don't think it's John Connor's motorcycle. Seriously, wouldn't it be outstanding if McG brought back the wheelers?

Upon further inspection, you'll notice that this motorbike looks less like a chopper, and more like a crouching Terminator, complete with the beady red-eyed front. The middle looks like a rib cage, and the back end appears to be robot legs. This image also would connect nicely with the trailer information of John Connor being chased by a wheeled Terminator that was leaked from focus groups.

The other pics show a few storyboards that include big-time ecological problems on Earth, including tidal waves and vast deserts, which seems on par for a nuclear burned land. Also there's a giant flaming helicopter that's downed. You add all of these pictures together and you've got one great post-apocalyptic movie. I especially like that all of the weaponry the humans have (helicopters, possible blimps and boats) are no match for an advanced race of robots.

But according to McG all this robot nonsense is besides the point. In his latest blog entry McG took the time to explain that the story will come first in this Terminator film (and everyone who watched T3 thanks him).

Every morning and every night Christian and I work on the story. Sam's contribution has been excellent. We are committed to putting the story and character first and then supplementing that with action and visual effects. It is our intention to make a film on a large scale with the nuance and subtext of a high quality independent picture.

McG also spilled that his T4 will look much more different:

Basically we are adding three times as much silver. It creates a surreal texture that is in keeping with the notion of the entire picture - feeling detached from the world we know today.
