Finally, Stargate Universe Gets An Old School SG-1 Villain

Illustration for article titled Finally, Stargate Universe Gets An Old School SG-1 Villain

Looks like some of your Stargate writing tips sunk in, the second season of SGU is adding a new big bad. Spoilers ahead.

The characters name is Simeon, and he's a Lucian Alliance soldier — a member of a group we met way back in the day, when they were a band of space smugglers who knew how to manipulate Goa'uld technology for their own benefit. Remember they were all pissed at Vala for an episode or two? The Lucians are also the supposed attackers of the Icarus Base on SGU. Thus forcing the crew of misfits onto the Destiny in the first place.

Here's how the character is described:

SIMEON (GUEST LEAD) – 35-45. Simeon is a dangerous Lucian Alliance soldier. He was a seasoned criminal before being recruited by the Alliance. He's strong and intimidating but more crafty and wiry than big and muscular. Scary in that you're never sure what he will do. He also holds secrets that are desperately sought after by Earth and those on board Destiny - secrets he would die or worse, kill to protect. He's an antagonist for several episodes before he finally comes into serious conflict with Robert Carlyle's character Rush and they are forced to face off. RECURRING. This role will work 6-7 episodes (Please submit all ethnicities)

So let's give thanks for having a continuous space enemy that we can focus the crews attention on, as opposed to the other muddled happenings back on Earth.

I know! We have a whole unknown universe! Let's use old bad people from the old universe.

Honestly, the whole idea that a "big bad" (I grow weary of that meme) was required seems lazy IMO.
