Carl Rinsch's 47 Ronin trailer is all martial arts, troll people, Keanu Reeves and a giant motherfucking dragon. We are not still yet 100% sure what is going on — but oooooh, look at the pretty.

LOOSELY based around the classic Japanese story, this film will be Rinsch's feature debut, so it had better be big. Or at least kick some sort of ass. The dragon and evil witch with the magical, strangling hair so far are very impressive. The visuals are stunning, so far. Let's hope the story is as equally impressive. Here's the official synopsis:

Keanu Reeves makes an explosive return to action-adventure in 47 Ronin. After a treacherous warlord kills their master and banishes their kind, 47 leaderless samurai vow to seek vengeance and restore honor to their people. Driven from their homes and dispersed across the land, this band of Ronin must seek the help of Kai (Reeves)—a half-breed they once rejected—as they fight their way across a savage world of mythic beasts, shape-shifting witchcraft and wondrous terrors.

As this exiled, enslaved outcast becomes their most deadly weapon, he will transform into the hero who inspires this band of outnumbered rebels to seize eternity.

47 Ronin will open on December 25th.

This looks very cool, awesome even. But the problem I have with this NOT Keanu Reeves playing a Japanese, but rather that the movie's vision portrays how Western cultures envision feudal Japan. And don't get me wrong,I've seen some SHITTY Japanese chambara movies that are as true to the Sengoku Jidai period as Braveheart to medieval Scotland. But if you want your trailer to be authentic you need to add some fue flute music and some taiko drums in the background while cherry blossoms fly in slow mo.

Nevertheless,I'm hoping the movie will turn out great. BTW,I'm still waiting for someone to release Rurouni Kenshin on BR over here.
