When superhero/supervillain costumes succeed on the big screen, it's a miracle. But it's also rare. The movie superhero outfits are a multiverse of fail, and here are 40-odd examples of total costume catastrophe. Brace yourself, this won't be pretty.

Two-Face and the Riddler look just as campy as anything in Batman And Robin. Including Riddler's weird orange hair, and Two-Face's both-sides-crazy jacket, which is just a little too loud for what's meant to be a conflicted character.

I think the Spider-Man suits and the Superman costumes are the best comic book costumes ever adapted to the big screen.

Like the Superman costume the blue-red scheme and spider patterns should have spelled out live-action disaster, but they managed to stay 100% faithful to the concept and executed it in a way that made it look believable while completely true to their iconic status.

When I first saw the production stills for Spider-Man I couldn't believe that they managed to replicate the Spidey-suit so well and make it look good on screen.

Also I like the fact it looks cheap in the shot where it's hanging in the closet since it does fit with Peter's 'makeshift superhero' status, and belies the fact that each suit cost 10 grand to fabricate.

And one more thing, I actually prefer the textured suit in Superman Returns to the cloth suits in Donner's movies since it looks like it's made from strange alien materials that could keep up with Superman.
