William Shatner explores the meaning of Star Trek fandom in the Get a Life! trailer

Trailer FrenzyA special place to find the newest trailers for movies and TV shows you're craving.

After seeking out his fellow Star Trek commanding officers in The Captains, William Shatner is back with another documentary, this time focused on the fans. From the trailer, William Shatner's Get a Life! (named for his infamous SNL sketch) looks like an affectionate examination of Star Trek fandom and why the franchise has meant so much to so many.

The documentary will premiere this coming Saturday, July 14th at Reading Cinemas in San Diego as part of the Comic-Con festivities. It will be available through EPIX on EpixHD.com, Xbox, Roku, and other devices on July 28th.

Shatner has developed a brand new and very public love affair with Star Trek over the last few years, so I'm excited to see another one of his productions, even if it's a little bit of a cheaply-made cash grab, and even if it goes to that tired well of "Trekkies=strange lifeforms," and even if retreads a little of what we saw in other Trek documentaries like "Trekkies" and "Trek Nation."

Even then, I'm still looking forward to this.
