Several Hollywood studios are currently vying for the rights to make Bios, a scifi film starring Tom Hanks and directed by Miguel Sapochnik, who directed the “Battle of the Bastards” Game of Thrones episode, among others.

According to Variety, Bios “follows a robot that lives on a post-apocalyptic earth. Built to protect the life of his dying creator’s beloved dog, it learns about love, friendship, and the meaning of human life.” Robert Zemeckis, Hanks’ long time collaborator, is producing.

In the film, Hanks will play the robot. No, I’m kidding. He’s the dog. Kidding again. Actually, he’s the creator. For real.

Written by Craig Luck and Ivor Powell, Bios is being shopped around Hollywood with a few companies currently interested including Amblin, Legendary and Warner Bros. Once one bites, the hope is to shoot early next year. It certainly has a catchy pitch, interesting setting, great star and underrated director. Hopefully it works out.

Who will take care of the robot when the dog dies? Did you consider THAT, Tom? I bet the movie is going to go full A.I. and the little guardian will be discovered 900 years later by self replicating alien robots, who will bring the dog and creator back to life.. .

..but only for 1 day.
