Doctor Strange

Mads Mikkelsen talks to Yahoo Movies UK about how the film stands out from the rest of Marvel’s films:

If you look at the comic books, the comic books are quite different [to other Marvel stories]. I think that the film will be different from the other [Marvel] films that we’ve seen, but not as different as the books are, because that was basically the ‘60s and ‘70s — it was more like an acid trip. I don’t know if you’re familiar with the old comics but it’s quite a specific universe, with Kung Fu and Magic… so what’s not to love, really?

James Wan discusses subverting expectations on the character:

I actually do think there’s something kind of fun, as well, to take a character where people don’t quite know what to expect from him, or rather the expectation of him is quite low. I always say, it’s very difficult when you’re tackling something like “Spider-Man” or “Batman” that has been done so many times before. Whereas, it’s actually really refreshing to take on something like “Aquaman,” that no one has really seen before in this context, and make it your own.

Deadpool 2

Although the rights to the character have reverted to Marvel, Ed Skrein wants Taskmaster to appear in the sequel:

The Taskmaster is just you know, so fun. To see Taskmaster and Wade Wilson/Deadpool together is so funny – watching them play in the Daniel Way collection they have these incredible riffs. He’s a mercenary like Wade Wilson but he’s a mercenary without morals. The only redeeming factor of Deadpool is his morals, right? Taskmaster does not have those morals so he back-stabs and stuff like that.

Doctor Who

The BBC have released a plethora of new details about the show’s 10th season, which begins filming next week.

The first two episodes of the series will be written by showrunner Steven Moffatt and novelist Frank Cottrell-Boyce (who wrote the somewhat terrible “In the Forest of the Night” in season 8). The episodes will feature Peaky Blinders’ Stephanie Hyam and Matt Lucas, reprising his role of Nardole from the most recent Christmas special, in guest roles—with Lucas seemingly joining the show as a semi-regular, according to Moffat:

Delighted and slightly amazed to be welcoming Matt Lucas back on to the TARDIS - and this time it’s not just for Christmas, he’s sticking around. One of the greatest comedy talents on planet Earth is being unleashed on all of time and space.

The corporation also took to Twitter to confirm two more writers for the series: Sarah Dollard, who wrote last year’s “Face the Raven,” and new-to-the-show writer Mike Bartlett.

The Walking Dead

Xander Berkeley has taken to Twitter to confirm he’ll reprise his role as Hilltop community leader Gregory in the next season.

TV Line reports that Poison Ivy is being recast on the series as Clare Foley, who played her in seasons one and two, departs the show. Producers are looking for a teenage replacement as the role expands into a series regular role.

Finally, Justin Hires has joined the cast. Details were undisclosed, but Hires will play one of the four new series regulars being added to the show in the wake of its pilot. [Deadline]

I’m amused that the folks running Gotham think that the show needs more characters.

Gotham‘s upcoming third season will also mark the arrival of DC Comics staples Vicki Vale and the Mad Hatter.

Gotham you already have enough characters. Some of them are portrayed by actors who are actually pretty good. You just need to actually do something long-term with those characters. You can trust your audience to have an attention span longer than ::looks at a bird outside::
