The Credits For The Shannara Chronicles Show Off How Our World Became Fantastic

When LOST showed up with its 10-second opening credits, we really lost something: minute or so introduction we got to a television show. MTV just released their credits for The Shannara Chronicles and it shows off just how that world transformed.

There’s been some neat opening credits for these types of event-style shows: Game of Thrones and True Detective come to mind, and Shannara looks like it’s following in their footsteps.

I’m really digging these credits: they’re abstract, minimal and tell a story all of their own, which is pretty cool.

Really digging the fact that they chose not to make Alannon the clone of Gandalf that Brooks intended him to be in the Sword of Shannara. I was fully expecting the grey beard, bushy eyebrows, robes, staff, even the pointy hat. Also noticing that both this series and the expanse are making the most of the shaved-side-of-the-head hardo. I predict hipsters will be shaving the sides of their heads this time next year.
