This Congressman Is the Greatest Cosplayer of Comic-Con 2015

If you don’t get the reference, it’s probably because you haven’t read March, Congressman Lewis’ award-winning graphic novel trilogy and first-hand account of the fight for civil rights alongside luminaries such as Martin Luther King Jr. He’s cosplaying as a younger version of himself from the marches of 1965, where African-Americans walked from Selma to Montgomery, Alabama, to bring attention to the racially-based voter suppression of many Southern states.


We’ve shown you some excellent cosplay from this year’s Comic-Con, and there will be more to come, but this? This is truly great.

Someone on the io9 Facebook comments was going on about how shameful it is that Lewis is here daring to talk about nonfiction, and promoting ‘his version’ of the events and politicizing the con, which is only about fiction. So I decided to correct him.
