Can't wait to see more of of Chris Nolan's Interstellar? You're in luck, Oculus Rift has set up a public Interstellar experience where you can float in virtual zero gravity through the very ship that Nolan built for the film, the Endurance. Plus, WORMHOLE TRAVEL.

The virtual experience mimics the actual set of the Endurance that Nolan and company constructed. It's a CG scan, but the experience feels like you're gliding through the ship itself. Here's a photo from the experience that gives you an eye inside the ship.

This sounds like just another marketing gag, but hand-over-heart it feels completely immersive. You drift from the innards of the Endurance to a remote cockpit, overlooking the rings of a foreign planet and then forward (SPOILERS) and into the wormhole. The activation of said wormhole (sidenote, it's pretty sweet that we humans of the not-so-distant-off-future can harness such black space magic) turns everything bright white. There's a piercing noise and—whammo—that's the end, thus revealing that in Nolan's space world, wormhole travel is pretty blinding.

Even Nolan is a fan of the virtual world. In a quote that he gave to press, he admitted that, "I was impressed with how the experience is able to put you in the cockpit of 'Interstellar's' spaceship, the Endurance. It was just like being back on set."

The show is traveling to a few cities around the US. Here's the info:

So...large parts of the movie are synthesized digitally, but it is important to him to release it on film early because "Nolan and Paramount themselves see the move as preserving the traditions of the moviegoing experience in the face of the digital expansion of the industry."
