If Reddit's leaders consider themselves a government, is it time to declare Reddit a failed state? That's what T.C. Sottek is asking over at the Verge, in a thought-provoking essay about Reddit's failure to control the way its members are abusing women.
If Reddit wants to be thought of as a government, we'll call it what it is: a failed state, unable to control what happens within its borders.
This betrays a fundamental ignorance of what reddit is. They aren't unable to control what happens on the site, they have specifically chosen not to, barring a very few, very specific things.
If you don't like what they choose to have, well, no one is making you go there.
