How To Reattach A Severed Robot Head

Rutger Hauer finds a severed robot head on the ground, and helps it get a new body, in this hilariously unconvincing sequence from Omega Doom. Too bad Robot Blade was using that head as a soccer ball... and he's pissed.

I saw Omega Doom [] in 1996 when it came out.

I've seen it again since.

It's not good.

It's got Shannon Whirry in it.

It's got Anna Katerina in it .....

..... who next year, credited as Anna Katarina, played the ex-wife of Michael Douglas's character, in David Fincher's gorgeous movie 'The Game'.

Omega Doom was based, like Akira Kurosawa's 'Yoyimbo', Sergio Leone's 'A Fistful of Dollars' and the Coen brother's wonderful, wonderful 'Miller's Crossing', on Dashiell Hammett's 1929 detective novel 'Red Harvest', which featured his eternal protagonist, the nameless 'The Continental Op', who was, in turn, based on Hammett's own work, as a (disillusioned) Pinkerton, strikebreaking for brutal mine bosses in 1916 Butte, Montana.

The story of a 1916 labourer, fleeing the consequences of killing his brutal boss, is the basis for Terrence Malick's, photogenic elegy to 'The Golden Hour', 1978's 'Days of Heaven', which was narrated by its ethereal ingenue star Linda Manz .....

..... who returned, once, after a twelve year absence from the screen and history, to play the unrecognizable, butch, tattooed roommate of Michael Douglas's co-star in 'The Game', only to then disappear once more, this time apparently forever.

For some reason I know all this.

Somebody take my head.
