Ghost in the Shell may have cast its villain. Supergirl reveals its baby Superman. Colony already has a second season. Plus, new clips from Grimm and Sleepy Hollow, Snyder on the DC Cinematic Multiverse, what’s to come in the last episode of the new X-Files series, and behind the scenes on Valerian. Spoilers Now!

Batman v Superman

Speaking on the Hall of Justice podcast, Zack Snyder confirms that the other members of the Justice League—Aquaman, The Flash, and Cyborg—do have roles in the film, but they are very minor. Also, that Wonder Woman’s presence is larger, but not as large as Batman or Superman’s:

As far as the other Justice League characters go, they play a very small role. It’s really just a whisper they exist. Except for Wonder Woman, we see her really well. But really the movie is about Batman and Superman. And we really take time with them and we really drill down on the why of them and what they stand for and their beliefs and them as characters. That’s pretty much the why of the movie. But again as I said, it does begin the conversation about these guys are out there.

He also discusses the evolution of the DC cinematic Multiverse, and how it integrates DC’s television and film ventures:

As opposed to trying to shoehorn all these storylines into a single universe, we let the characters exist in a multi-universe, and it’s a lot more fun, and a lot more value for the audience.

[Fans] get to see their favorite, most beloved characters on different adventures at the same time in different universes. It makes it a lot more fun, we get to go in different directions at the same time. I’m like a kid in a candy store with this incredible opportunity. It’s really fun. It couldn’t be any better.

Ghost in the Shell

Michael Pitt has allegedly been cast as the film’s version of The Laughing Man from Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex. THR describes Pitt’s version as being “a bitter and vengeful man with a body that is part robot”, and as “a bad guy filtered through the lens of a street artist.” However, Deadline are reporting that while Pitt is in talks to join the film in a major role, it may not be for The Laughing Man.

In the anime and manga, The Laughing Man was the pseudonym for a terrorist hacker—who hid behind an animated logo of a laughing face wearing a cap—that becomes a target of investigation for Motoko Kusanagi and Section 9.
