When Dahlia (guest star Claudia Black) devises a clever way to get Klaus’ (Joseph Morgan) attention, she reveals some startling details about baby Hope and leaves him with an enticing proposition to consider. Elsewhere, while Elijah (Daniel Gillies) and Freya (guest star Riley Voelkel) find themselves with opposing views on how best to handle Dahlia’s looming deadline, Rebekah (guest star Maisie Richardson-Sellers), Davina (Danielle Campbell), and Cami (Leah Pipes) work together to come up with their own strategy. Meanwhile, following a tense stand-off between Elijah and Jackson (guest star Nathan Parsons) in the bayou, Hayley (Phoebe Tonkin) is left to make a difficult decision about her and Hope’s future. Finally, Vincent (Yusuf Gatewood), who is eager to leave his witch past behind him, approaches Davina with an offer that leaves her intrigued.

Tales of the Grim Sleeper (9 PM, HBO)

True crime fanatics can dig into the Grim Sleeper case, about a serial killer believed to be responsible for at least ten murders in South Los Angeles. This documentary, rather than focusing on the whodunnit, investigates whether the crimes were given insufficient attention because the killer targeted a poor, black neighborhood.

Claire’s secret is revealed; the suspected killer makes a full confession; Victor protects Julie.

The Casual Vacancy (8 PM, HBO)

It’s not scifi or fantasy (nor The Cuckoo’s Calling), but JK Rowling’s first post-Harry Potter story comes to television this week in a three-part miniseries. It will tumble out the dark secrets of the small town of Pagford and its denizens during an election for parish councillor. Two parts air on Wednesday and the finale airs on Thursday at 8 PM.

Supernatural (9 PM, The CW)

When Claire Novak gets a lead on her mother, Amelia, she calls on Dean, Sam, and Castiel for help. But the Novak ladies may not get a happy reunion.

CSI: Cyber (10 PM, CBS)

The cyber crime team investigates when nine planes that departed from the same airport face a coordinated Wi-Fi attack while in flight.

Thursday

Cartoons (5 PM, Cartoon Network)

On Clarence (5 PM), Mary’s mom Dyllis comes to visit and turns the Wendle household upside down. On Steven Universe (5:30 PM), Steven, Amethyst and Garnet chase after a monster that’s been loose in the Temple. On Teen Titans Go! (6 PM), Robin teaches the Titans to play soccer — and naturally, they become obsessed. And on Adventure Time (7:30 PM), BMO’s favorite entertainers unexpectedly find a new home at the tree house.

The Vampire Diaries (8 PM, The CW)

Alaric and Jo reluctantly attend their bachelor and bachelorette parties while Damon and Elena contemplate Damon’s rash offer.

Dig (10 PM, USA)

An ancient religious sect completes all of the pieces to enact their deadly plans. Peter’s (Jason Isaacs) attempt at preventing the impending catastrophe thrusts him into partnership with unlikely allies. Lynn (Anne Heche) realizes the depth of the conspiracy during her investigation into Ambassador Ridell (Regina Taylor), who is expecting a package from the States. Meanwhile, Golan (Ori Pfeffer) tries to crack more clues from the Donaldson case.
