In other news, the Highlander reboot also wants a major star for the role of Connor MacLeod, world peace, and a pretty pony. I'm not sure any of these things are going to happen, as the movie has languished in limbo for years and the current director is the second unit guy from Snow White and the Huntsman.

I'm sure the Highlander reboot is hoping that Cruise's recent string of less-than-hit movies (including the criminally underappreciated Edge of Tomorrow) has made him nervous enough to accept a secondary role in a theoretical summer blockbuster, which they could then use to attract a younger star to play Connor MacLeod. But Ryan Reynolds has left the project, and even in his darkest moments, I can't imagine Cruise taking anything Ryan Reynolds has turned down, especially if its a smaller role. The Wrap says Cruise isn't even close to talks, so really, this is just wishing out loud on Highlander's part. No need to worry about the madness of an American playing a Spanish role originally made famous by Scotsman... yet.
