The Hollywood Reporter says that Universal's just hired a slew of writers for their upcoming reboot of the classic monster films. But here's the weird bit: They're not necessarily hiring them for specific films. Instead, Universal's apparently trying to create a "writers collective" for the new universe.
Universal is hoping we can all just forget the lackluster Benicio Del Toro Wolf Man movie from four years ago, because they're making a NEW Wolf Man movie for their much talked about Universal Monster Universe, which is basically imitating the Marvel Cinematic Universe but with Dracula and Frankenstein and the like.
Universal has staked out April 21st, 2017, for its third installment in its new classic monster cinematic universe after 2016's The Mummy. Despite my use of the word "stake", it'll probably be feature Frankenstein's monster of the Wolf Man, since Dracula's origin has so recently been Untold.
