We've made another step forward in building real-life tractor beams. Turns out that the trick is in the angle of the beam, and Star Trek did a pretty good job of representing what a real tractor beam could look like.
Bats hunt moths and other insects by using echolocation, where they emit ultrasonic calls and analyze the rebounding sound. So to avoid getting eaten by hungry bats, hawkmoths blast the flying mammals with their own ultrasound…which comes from their genitals. Seriously.
At just five inches long, tarsiers are among the world's smallest primates. And yet they communicate much like humans, using a wide range of calls to communicate. That's why it's so weird that some tarsiers apparently stay completely silent.
