Anthology television shows have gotten popular in recent years with hits like True Detective and American Horror Story. Now, SyFy is jumping on the trend by greenlighting two seasons of Channel Zero, a horror anthology.
Variety has reported that the channel will air two seasons of the show with a total of 12 episodes. The first season will be titled Channel Zero: Candle Cove:
“Candle Cove” centers on a man’s obsessive recollections of a mysterious children’s television program from the 1980’s, and his ever-growing suspicions about the role it might have played in a series of nightmarish and deadly events from his childhood.
The first season will air sometime next fall, with Season 2 airing in Fall 2017. Both seasons will apparently revolve around the same story, but with each season telling a self-contained story.
It’ll be interesting to see how this works: SyFy has been really upping their programming in the last year, and with shows like Killjoys, The Expanse and Dark Matter, they’ve really got the science fiction part covered, while The Magicians should get them started with Fantasy. Hopefully, this show will bring the same level of quality to the horror genre.
