In what sounds for all the world like an April Fool's joke until you learn that it was announced at WonderCon yesterday, Dark Horse will release a comic adaptation of George Lucas' first script for Star Wars. Titled "The Star Wars" and starring Annikin Starkiller, General Luke Skywalker and a 6-foot-tall lizard-man Han Solo, it's wildly different from what finally ended up on screen.

As you can see from the first page that Dark Horse has released, they'll also be using some of Ralph McQuarrie's early character designs — one that George Lucas hired him to make when he was trying to secure financing for the film, and needed something to show potential investors. The first issue should debut in Sepetmber.
