James Gunn confirmed yet another Avenger who won’t show up in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. Yet another major Batman villain is coming to Gotham. Plus, Martian viral videos, a funnier Vision in Civil War, Wesley Snipes on Blade’s future, and Dalek-table new Doctor Who pictures. So many Spoilers!

Star Wars Episode VIII

Here’s one to take with a truckload of salt: Making Star Wars is reporting that Hayden Christensen, who played Anakin Skywalker in the prequel films, is being trained for an appearance in Episode VIII.

Unless he’s making a cameo as a Force Ghost—and any form of “training” seems unnecessary for such a cameo—it seems incredibly unlikely that Christensen’s version of Anakin will be showing up in the movie, so treat this firmly as an outlandish rumor for now.

Captain America: Civil War

Paul Bettany teases a funnier Vision in the film as he describes the atmosphere of the set:

It was a lot of work! We all had a bit more fun. You know, there were more improvised jokes between me and [Robert] Downey Jr., and me and Chris Evans, and it was a really loose atmosphere on-set. It was one really loose set, it was great! I would totally lie to you if it wasn’t, but I don’t have to lie. And we all get on. They’re all a really nice bunch of boys and girls. They’re all happy to be there. They’re being terribly well-paid, so they should be happy to be there. And work’s really creative and fun, you know? I got to be born on camera, you know, that’s unlikely to ever happen again.

Guardians Of The Galaxy Volume 2

In perhaps unsurprising news, Director James Gunn has taken to Facebook to deny that Iron Man would be making an appearance in the film. Scratch another Avengers cameo off the list!

Blade

The not-entirely-reliable Wesley Snipes offers an update on the ongoing conversations between himself and Marvel to reprise the Vampire hunter:

There’s always a possibility, you know. It’s in Marvel’s hands. They’re controlling the pace and the flow with that. Conversations have been good. They see the value in it. We see the value in it. I’m still in shape enough and fit enough to handle the role. We’ll see how it goes. I don’t really know what’s going to happen to it yet.

Trapped

Weaveworld

The CW have announced an adaptation of Clive Barker’s horror/fantasy novel. According to Deadline, the adaptation will be modernized, revolving around “an app designer [who] teams up with a young pastry chef who has just discovered that she is destined to be guardian of a mythological realm that can be accessed through a portal in an old Savannah mansion”.

Gotham

Cameron Monaghan ponders whether Jerome would get along with the deranged Nygma:

I don’t think that Jerome would appreciate Edward Nygma’s structure. He’s not chaotic enough for him. It would probably be the reason he would butt heads with him. To be honest, he doesn’t play very well with other people, in general. Jerome has an infectious personality and a very specific brand of insanity that kind of either destroys the psyche or destroys the person of anyone he’s around. I don’t think that any of the effects that he’s going to have on [others] are positive.

Speaking to Comic Book, showrunner Bruno Heller teases that the Court of Owls from the comics may be making its way to the show soon:

Yeah, absolutely, [I’m interested]. I won’t say that it’s part of – I don’t even want to say that, because I don’t want to spoil part of the story. The Court of Owls is deep, deep, deep Gotham mythology. The comic book fans know about it, but I would suspect the larger audience is not so familiar. We sometimes have to make a distinction between the ‘Nolan-era Batman movie fans’ and the comic book fans. It’s not that they’re two separate audiences, just that there are two levels of engagement. Court of Owls is very much deep DC mythology.

We are absolutely going to explore that world down the line. Looking at the longevity of the show, we have to hold some cards back, we can’t just throw all of the elements, all of the story at once. The long arc of the show is Bruce Wayne’s journey of discovery down into the depths of the physical and meta-physical world of Gotham. The Court of Owls is a brilliant conceit that will absolutely be part of our storytelling. I just won’t tell you when.

Here’s a decidedly NSFW “Red Band” trailer highlighting the show’s unhinged villains.
