The first edition of the Spike Trotman-edited Smut Peddler anthology was a delight. Trotman gathered dozens of talented comics creators who wrote and drew fun, beautiful, and arousing comics that just happened to feature scenes of graphic sex. There were comics about sexually modular robots, body-swapping hijinks, erotic spaceships, with a variety of genders and sexualities represented. The new volume promises to be every bit as good, with the list of creators that includes Trudy Cooper (Oglaf), Danielle Corsetto (Girls With Slingshots), Amanda Lafrenais (Love Me Nice), Blue Delliquanti (O Human Star), Jess Fink (Chester 5000 XYV—NSFW), Kate Leth (Kate or Die!), Megan Rose Gedris (YU+ME, I Was Kidnapped By Lesbian Pirates From Outer Space!), and Spike herself. You can nab various book formats and combinations at various pledge levels.
After being cryogenically frozen, an elderly couple wakes centuries later in younger cloned bodies. The film follows the two as they navigate the joys and challenges of their new life in the future. NEW has finished filming and will be debuting at the Sci-Fi London Film Festival, but it still needs a few finishing touches. For a $15 pledge, backers can get a digital download of the short film.
Want your very own greenhouse but don't have much space? The MEG is an automated greenhouse that you can keep in your home. Through the system's user interface, you can control the light-cycles, ventilation, temperature, irrigation, and soil pH inside the greenhouse. The makers are also looking to include a social component for growing that is even more automated. The team is offering the LED board for a £150 pledge and other components at higher pledge levels.
Okay, it's not nearly as cool as owning a real flesh and blood dinosaur, but this kit lets you build your very own cardboard velociraptor. For a $20 pledge, you can get a kit in a color of your choice.
Want to help fund space exploration? The B612 Foundation is looking for donations to help fund Sentinel, a telescope that will be placed in orbit around the sun and examine our solar system, especially the resource opportunity that asteroids could provide:
"The orbits of the inner solar system where Earth lies are populated with a half million asteroids larger than the one that struck Tunguska (June 30, 1908), and yet we've identified and mapped only about one percent of these asteroids to date, said Ed Lu, Space Shuttle, Soyuz, and Space Station Astronaut, now Chairman and CEO of the B612 Foundation."During its 5.5-year mission survey time, Sentinel will discover and track half a million Near Earth Asteroids, creating a dynamic map thatwill provide the blueprint for future exploration of our Solar System, while protecting the future of humanity on Earth."
For the horror fan who likes to gaze upon the visage of HP Lovecraft, Josh Dunlap has sculpted a bust of the author that's the size of a soda can. For a $75 pledge, you can get a Lovecraft bust cast in marble dust. For a $90 pledge, you can get one cast in bronze.
