After the success of Lizzie Borden Took An Axe, Lifetime opted to turn the Christina Ricci-starring movie into an eight-episode series, The Lizzie Borden Chronicles. It kicks off April 5, and based on new clips posted to its official site, looks to be a campy good time (with fabulous costumes ... those hats!)

Here's a delightfully arch clip from the first episode, which Lifetime describes as follows:

After her shocking 1893 acquittal for the brutal axe-murders of her parents in Fall River, Massachusetts, Lizzie Borden (Christina Ricci), ignores the scorn of neighbors to restart her life with her loving older sister, Emma (Clea DuVall). But renowned Texas Pinkerton agent Charles Siringo (Cole Hauser) shows up determined to find the real truth behind the murders. Their father's ex-business partner, William Almy (John Heard) demands payment of a colossal debt that will bankrupt the sisters. And their shiftless half-brother (Andrew Howard) blackmails them with a dark secret. Lizzie is forced to reappraise the tranquil life she had in mind, and may have to resort to old bloody ways to escape this treacherous bind.
